Angelina’s Bachelors: A Novel with Food was a fun low-key read. It begins with the sudden death of the main character’s husband and then the nearly simultaneous loss of her job. It can only go up from there, right? And it does. In a sweet nicely paced way, we see the main character, through the help of neighbors and friends rebuild her life. It is not a completely unexpected route, but still a nice easy ride. There are very detailed recipes sprinkled through the book. Some of them I read, some I didn’t. I’m on the fence about this tactic in books, usually I skip them – although I did read the chocolate cake recipe in this one.
